Pioneer Award & CEI’s New Facebook Page

Updated: May 27, 2021

We are thrilled to be recognized as one of 122 Pioneers by Children’s Well Being and to be a part of this distinguished network! For that competition, CEI presented our vision for children’s well being by asking, “What if schools were havens for healing and prek-12 grade classes were intentionally designed to promote student voice, thriving, & success?” Our work with heart centered education and Early Childhood STEAM teacher workshops in DC were highlighted in our submission.

We applaud the Ashoka and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for their contributions to improving the lives of so many children throughout the world.

The Children’s Wellbeing has selected 122 Pioneers, innovators with promising projects and the potential to lead a new movement for children’s wellbeing–one that will help build a world in which children are able to cope, hope, and thrive. The challenge received an astounding 284 entries from across the United States.

With so many impactful and innovative projects that are truly transforming the way in which kids grow up, it was a difficult process to select a group of entries to move onto the next phase as Pioneers. The Pioneers were selected by a team of reviewers including community peers, partner organizations, and Ashoka, according to the challenge’s assessment criteria.

In the next phase of the challenge, Pioneers will have an opportunity to revise their entries and reflect on children’s wellbeing through a supplemental entry form, giving greater detail into their work and the challenges they face. Then, a panel of expert judges will select 10 Champions, announced on October 5th. Congratulations to the Pioneers for reaching this milestone! Find out who they are and learn more about their incredible work, here. All entrants received detailed feedback on their entries from peers, the broader Changemakers community, and a talented team of Trusted Reviewers.

‘I’m very glad I decided to help out as a reviewer. It’s been an invaluable experience for me to learn what is/isn’t a strong pitch. After reviewing other submissions, I’m now better able to recognize weaknesses in my own submission.’ –Michael Auerbach, CEO, Kinful

We would like to sincerely thank every entrant and all who participated in the collaborative spirit of the challenge. We invite you to continue sharing your perspectives and participating in the network. By subscribing to our newsletter, you’ll have access to insights and more opportunities to connect with like-minded leaders and share ideas for a collective vision for children’s wellbeing.
