Lea Kuusilehto-Awale’s career has ranged from early childhood education and care (ECEC) to basic, secondary, informal adult education and higher education. She was first a teacher of foreign languages, a school principal including an IB Diploma School and an educator of school principals, thereafter she the programme director, lecturer and researcher in the first international Master’s degree programme of Educational Leadership in Finland, in the University of Jyväskylä. She has experience also of municipal politics, of leading CSOs and of development aid project planning and implementation. She is also the founder and CEO of AwaLead Ltd and as a lifelong learner with an MA degree now finalizing her PhD thesis. Her research focus is in caring leadership and the learning challenges of multicultural learners.
